Design, Build, Deliver

The Director of IT / Transportation Management Systems (TMS) will ensure the efficient, effective and high quality operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This position will plan, coordinate, direct, and lead the design of IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The Director of IT / TMS will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This position will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices. This position leads the development of the strategy in the area of responsibility.
The Director of IT / TMS is responsible for the cross-functional integration of all the functional areas under their leadership.
This position will recommend and promote capital and be operating expenditures within an area of responsibility.
Essential Functions:
Plan, direct and assure the timely completion of the work at the required level of quality to meet the long and short-term needs of the organization.
Create and communicate a clear definition and understanding of the work requirements and goals as well as any constraints in terms of time, policy, cost or quality.
Maintain and operate applications and/or infrastructure devices.
Manage and oversee the testing of computer production operational routines, procedures, methods, processes and document them.
Communicate and train others in operational routine procedures, methods, and processes.
Identify incorrect operations and system failures. Work with systems users and IT organization to correct the failures and restore the system to proper working order in an efficient and timely manner that minimizes the adverse effects of the failure as the business demands.
Proactively improve business processes and growth through technology enablement.
Accountable for the delivery of IT projects and programs in the portfolio worldwide.
Responsible for IT business relationship management, IT investment portfolio (prioritization, project delivery, and third-party management processes). The initiatives led by this person span a complex set of functions, technologies, and geographies.
Provide recommendations to the Information Technology Executives and leadership in the development of IT strategy, tactics, plans and processes.
Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
Job Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or Engineering Required
10 years' experience in Information Systems in area of managed specialty (infrastructure, applications, operations, development), specifically in Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Supervisory/Management experience
Substantive knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (both shipper & carrier side) and how to enable/improve the operations through technology either application development or 3rd party application configuration/integration.
Specific process and functional/technical knowledge and capability areas include: Fleet Routing and Dispatching, For Hire Freight Management- All modes: Road (Truck Load and LTL), Intermodal, Rail, Ocean, Air, Parcel
Tactical Planning, Sourcing and Freight Bidding, Operational Planning, Execution and Freight Settlement
Mobile application capabilities
Preferred Experience:
TMS Application Experience (configuration, enhancement, development) ? with a sophisticated full function TMS application examples include: LEANLogistics, Kewill, Oracle Transportation, SAP Transportation, JDA (formally I2), MercuryGate
Application Product/Service Management / Platform Management Understanding
Application Support Management
Agile Project Management

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
